Dear lovers of humanity and God,
Assalamu Alaikum
Two survivors were rescued from the rubble a few hours ago, although it is
the fifth day of the earthquake.
1. Keep praying for sabr and endurance of those still in the rubble.
2. Please continue to thank President Bush for 8 helicopters. He is being
asked to help with disaster after disaster. Request him to increase
helicopter support. See what Christian Science Monitor is saying today: “the
greatest need Pakistan faces is helicopters, the only means of transport
left to ferry large amounts of aid into the quake-affected Himalayan region
of Kashmir. Most roads remain cut off from landslides.”
Please call President Bush thanking him for the 8 helicopters he is sending
but request to send at least 100 more, earth moving equipment and the Search
and Rescue teams with K9 dogs.
It is still not too late; lives have been saved in Iran and Mexico
earthquakes even after seven days. Here in Kashmir people know where people
are stuck. They simply do not have equipment to dig them out. In one college
in Bagh one college building has about 1500 students waiting for little more
than bare hands to rescue them.
So while we donate to charities, it is important to pray and help save lives
in the most prudent way.
“Whoever saves one life, it is like s/he has saved the whole humanity.”

Helicopters are the only way to navigate those narrow valleys. Even when
roads are open what will take 10 hours in those areas by road a helicopter
can do in 20 minutes. Trust me on this. I know that beautiful area
extensively. May God help them.
Peace/salam

p.s. All relief organizations are encouraging cash instead of goods. Since
they can transfer cash faster than goods and buy things cheaper in Pakistan.
The small volunteer group which asked for blanket for PIA flight is
requesting not to send any more things. They are overwhelmed and are
planning to send what they have through sea beyond the one container which a
future PIA flight will take. This shows the good heart of our people. May
Allah reward them.
