We Encourage Donations for Pakistan Earthquake Relief
The most current status of the Pakistan Earthquake devastation as of this week according to the Pakistan Government is approximately as follows:
- 55,000 confirmed dead
- 76,000 injured
- 3.5 million people homeless
- $5 billion infrastructure damage
- 20,000 sq. miles of area affected
- 8,000 schools destroyed
Rashid Khalikov, the United Nations Humanitarian Aid Area Coordinator speaking with reporters while in the earthquake area of Pakistan reported, “From a logistical point of view this is possibly the most challenging emergency relief operation that the international humanitarian community has ever faced”
"Aid workers have just five weeks left to get six months' worth of food supplies into the most remote areas of Pakistan before they are cut off because of the severe cold weather", according to the U.N. World Food Program.
"We are racing against time. We need to win the race before snow falls," said Simon Missiri, head of the Asia and Pacific operation of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies
