SEEME GULL HASAN was born in Lahore, Pakistan and migrated to the United States in 1971.  She is a graduate of the prestigious Kinniard College for Women (Punjab University, Lahore, Pakistan).  Seeme is the founder and co-chairman of Muslims for America (www.muslimsforamerica.us) and the independent record label iSufiRock (www.isufirock.com).  Seeme also serves as Chairman of the Hasan Family Foundation.

Seeme’s greatest passion is arts and music education for children. As an adult, Seeme eventually devoted over ten thousand hours of her own time towards arts education for at risk youth. One of her greatest accomplishments includes the founding and funding of the Colorado Music Fest at the University of Southern Colorado (now Colorado State University at Pueblo).  The Colorado Music Fest, based in Southern Colorado, includes a series of performances, ballets, and symphony concerts, performed by both professionals and amateur musicians. The annual music festival’s biggest event was a Fourth of July concert and fireworks show, free to the 20,000 plus that attended.  Every performance included free admission to economically disadvantaged children, many of whom have had never previously attended a live theater performance. The major achievement of the Colorado Music Fest is a series of camps where professionals teach campers singing, dancing, and playing musical instruments.

As an active supporter of the performing arts in Colorado, she was appointed by the governor to the Colorado Council On The Arts. Seeme is also a trustee of the Kennedy Center’s National Symphony Orchestra. She also sits on the advisory board of Bravo Music Festival in Vail Colorado.

Seeme’s business skills were crafted through years of sideline advising of her husband, Dr. Malik Hasan, who founded one of the nation’s largest health maintenance organizations, HealthNet.  Seeme is also an owner of the healthcare software company, HealthTrio.  Appropriately, Seeme is one of the world’s few women to have a business school named after her – the Seeme & Malik Hasan School of Business at Colorado State University at Pueblo.  The school’s graduates rang among the highest in state testing.  Her primary motivation in founding the business school was to offer an affordable and quality-driven business degree opportunity to every Southern Coloradoan.
Seeme Hasan is an active member of the national Republican Party, serving as a Republican Regent since 2000. She has been a member of the Republican Central Committee of Eagle County since 2007. Joining the Republican Party in 1976 from Pueblo, Colorado, Seeme served in various positions. She is credited with the revival of the party in Southern Colorado, in particular her efforts in electing Ronald Reagan to the presidency, for which President Reagan sent her a personal letter of thanks. In 2003, Seeme created Muslims for Bush, with the goal of promoting President George W. Bush and supporting the War on Terror. Seeme also represents Speaker Newt Gingrich's American Solutions in Colorado and Nevada. In 2008, she was appointed to the finance committee for McCain-Palin and raised over a million dollars for the campaign in the Vail Valley.

For her efforts, Seeme has received numerous awards, including the “Person of the Year” from the Alumni Association of the University of Southern Colorado, the “President’s Award” for service to the University of Southern Colorado, “Woman of the Year of Performing Arts” from the Pueblo Chamber Orchestra, and “Woman of the Year of 2004” from the Pakistani cultural organization Safeer E Pakistan (in conjunction with TV Pakistan).

Seeme is most proud of the “Seeme Hasan PEACE (Providing Education in Cultural Equality) Award,” given annually as a scholarship, in her name, by the Pueblo Hispanic Education Foundation (PHEF), to a Latino student from the Pueblo, Colorado community.  PHEF named the annual award after Seeme in recognition of her work with at-risk, Latino youth.
Through the Hasan Family Foundation, Seeme will continue to build bridges between America and the Muslim World, between disadvantaged youth and the arts, using the arts and culture as the connecting stones, and between the voices of independence and freedom and the greater society.
